Green Algae

Green algae are an integral part of Siwa Oasis’s unique natural environment. Thriving in the oasis’s salt lakes, hot springs, and mineral-rich waters, they contribute to the ecological balance and water quality of the region. Rich in chlorophyll, vitamins, and antioxidants, green algae are widely recognized for their purifying and revitalizing properties. The abundance of green algae in Siwa reflects the oasis’s distinctive ecosystem, where mineral water and sunlight sustain both life and natural beauty. Clay was one of the most essential and symbolic materials in ancient Egypt, representing creation, stability, and the connection between earth and life. Drawn from the fertile banks of the Nile, clay was considered a gift from the gods, embodying the power of renewal that came with each flood. It was believed that the god Khnum – the potter god- molded humans from clay on his divine potter’s wheel, giving form to life itself. Clay figurines and offering vessels were placed in tombs to serve and protect the deceased in the afterlife. Egyptians crafted clay into pottery, jars, and household items for storing grains, oils, and water—making it indispensable for daily life.
