Hibiscus Extract
Hibiscus, known as the “Tea of the Pharaohs,” was treasured for its vibrant color, cooling effect, and ceremonial value. Brewed into karkadé and served in royal courts, it symbolized vitality, purity, and sacred renewal. Also, it played a key part in Sham El-Nessim, which marked the arrival of spring and symbolized renewal and the fertility of the land. karkadé was consumed to honor the earth’s revival, and it was used as a food coloring, dyeing fish and eggs with its red hue. Over centuries, it became a cultural staple served weddings, feasts, and Ramadan. Still hand-harvested and sun-dried in Nuba, hibiscus carries the spirit of Egyptian tradition—flavorful, fragrant, and rich in heritage.
